Jersey, throughout history, has had a particular affinity with folklore and stories have evolved from tales of smugglers, lovers, harsh terrain and challenging coastlines, as well as the ever-changing influences of neighbouring countries, visitors and invaders. Many myths and legends and still known within the Island. StampNews.com is glad to inform our readers that Jersey Post has released six special stamps that depict six exciting myths and legends of Jersey.


We are glad to introduce to our readers’ attention seven special stamps by Australia Post representing endangered animals that are part of current zoo and/or other conservation programs in Australia. These animals are at risk of extinction and are classified as either Endangered or Critically Endangered according to Australian and international measures. Three animals are exotic and four are native. Let’s appreciate the bright design of these seven stamps together!


Gibraltar’s Gorham’s Cave has been granted World Heritage status. To mark such an achievement Gibraltar Post issued a set of 5 commemorative stamps which has been developed in very close cooperation with the The Gibraltar Museum.


The United States Postal Service has just rescheduled issue dates for three holiday stamps that were all previously announced to go one sale within the next three weeks.

Faraday and his research in the field of electricity were honored on a 22-penny stamp issued by Great Britain on March 5, 1991, marking Faraday’s birth bicentennial (Scott 1360).


NEW ZEALANDS FIRST STAMPS / 2016-08-04 12:35:47
New Zealands first stamps were called the "Full Face Queens" because the picture on them was a front view of the head and shoulders of Queen Victoria. There were three stamps in the Full Face Queen set. They cost 1 penny (1d), 2 penny (2d), and 1 shilling (1s) and were printed in Britain.


The history of the world‘s greatest sporting events over the past 120 years can be explored any number of ways. Some rely on books, others relive the spectacle and emotion of the Games on DVD, while many younger Olympic enthusiasts turn to the internet as their resource of choice. The case of Fernando França Leite, an antique dealer from Rio de Janeiro’s northern district, however, is quite different.


This one concerns a US 1845 10c St Louis postmaster’s provisional cover that could make in excess of US$20,000 at Cherrystone Auctions. It’s cancelled by an 1846 circular date stamp.

To mark the upcoming Olympic Games Croatia Post has introduced a special stamp honoring the hosting city and the sportsmen that are to take part in this colossal sporting event.
